On Monday, June 1, Bolingbrook Pride and IKEA Bolingbrook are partnering to raise the rainbow flag together at the start of Pride Month.
Some places lower their voices during hard moments. In Bolingbrook, the flag still goes up.
On Monday, June 1st, at 9:30 AM, Bolingbrook Pride and IKEA Bolingbrook are raising the rainbow flag together to open Pride Month, and we want you there.
At a time when many organizations are scaling back visible support, IKEA Bolingbrook continues to fly the Pride flag throughout the month of June. Not just for a day. Not as a photo opportunity. For ALL of June.
And this year, we are celebrating that commitment together.
Join us outside at 9:15 AM to gather for the 9:30 AM flag-raising and a few words from our friends at IKEA Bolingbrook and Bolingbrook Pride. Then head upstairs to the cafe for free family fun.
We'll have:
- Rainbow cake
- Coffee, tea, and cold beverages
- Bracelet making and sticky note affirmations
- A door prize drawing
- Temporary tattoos, and good company
The rainbow cake from IKEA is more than delicious. Every piece sold benefits Rainbow Railroad, an organization that helps LGBTQ+ people escape state-sponsored violence around the world. Also, throughout June, proceeds from IKEA's rainbow STORSTOMA bag go to the Trevor Project, which provides crisis support for LGBTQ+ young people. When you show up and eat cake, you are doing something.
This event is free. It is family-friendly. It is for everyone.

Come inside and upstairs to the cafe for complimentary rainbow cake, coffee (and other beverages), bracelet-making, coloring, temporary tattoos, sticky-note affirmations, and community. IKEA and Bolingbrook Pride will be giving away one (1) door prize consisting of multiple items. Must be present to win.
