Why do smoke alarms always seem to go off at 2:00 a.m.? I have an emergency and I've dialed 9-1-1 but why do they spend so much time asking

In this talk we will discuss common household emergencies that you may encounter and how to prevent them. Discussion will focus on:

  • Smoke Alarms- maintenance and testing
  • Dialing 911 – reporting emergencies and
  • the reason “why the 911 operator ask so many questions"
  • Escape Planning, Exit Drills
  • Preventing accidents, injuries and fires in the home
  • Resources and websites for information about preventing home emergencies

CHIEF RONNIE PAGE has worked with the North Chatham Fire Department for eighteen years and currently serves as the Assistant Fire Chief. He began his career as a Firefighter and Fire Equipment Operator before promoting to a Company Officer. Chief Page and the members of North Chatham Fire Department work with the community in preventing fires and injuries by conducting fire prevention education to local schools and other community groups. Chief Page is a Child Passenger Safety Technician and the Fire Department is a community Child Seat inspection Station. Parents can have their child seats inspected by scheduling an appointment with a CPS technician.
