Event description

Description

This ½ day event is for primary care teams in Idaho. The event focuses on the negative impacts of adolescent alcohol and substance abuse, adolescent brain development, and tools available to help identify risk factors within the clinic setting.

This event will offer 4.0 Continuing Medical Education (CME) and/or part 2 Maintenance of Certification (MOC) for pediatricians.

We are thrilled to have Linda Chamberlain, PhD, MPH as our key note speaker. She will discuss her work on the adolescent brain and the changes that occur during adolescence. Dr. Chamberlain will highlight how these changes influence emotions, decision-making and behaviors.

We are equally excited to have Lieutenant Charles Ketchum with Idaho State Police and Dr. Angela Beauchaine from Primary Health Medical Group. They will discuss the signs and symptoms of substance abuse, and updates for the Car, Relax, Alone, Forget, Friends, Trouble (CRAFFT) tool. The CRAFFT screening tool is crucial in identifying at-risk youth and connecting them and their families to resources.

St. Luke's Children's and the Idaho State Liquor Division are very excited for this partnership to enhance your knowledge and improve the health of Idaho's adolescents.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Utah Medical Association (UMA) through the joint providership of the Ada Canyon Medical Education Consortium and St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital.
