Event description

Pressure & Profit Logo

What's the Purpose of the Conference?

Pressure & Profit is not a sales pitch - it's not a "show and tell" of our company's products and services. Instead, it's a genuine educational event aimed at equipping you with the most relevant and up-to-date information of compressed air systems best practices applied to your specific area of responsibility.

What Subjects Will Be Covered?

You have two options: a technical track and a business track, both of which provide four certified professional development hours (PDH):

Technical Track: The Changing Landscape of Compressed Air Technology: Variable Frequency Drive Applications and the New DOE Efficiency Standards

Two issues are currently on the table that have a significant impact on the use of compressed air. The first is the increased prescription of variable speed/frequency drive machines by states pursuing an agenda of improved sustainability. The second is a change recently initiated by the Department of Energy regarding the efficiency standards of compressors. This track will explore both of these issues in terms of their real-world impact on the design, optimization, and use of compressed air systems.

Business Track: The Path to Profitability: How to Realize Significant Reductions in Overall Production Cost through Compressed Air System Best Practices

This track will address how to reduce overall production costs from 1-3% annually through a variety of low capital-expenditure modifications to existing compressed air systems in a broad range of real-world manufacturing applications. It will also equip you with the necessary tools to make a compelling internal argument to implement the recommended solutions. Concrete examples from the Ford Motor Company will function as case studies, making the material intensely practical.

Which Track Should I Select?

Technical Track: Aimed at Individuals with accountabilities around the design of new and existing facilities, sustainability, and/or engineering.

Business Track: Designed for individuals with accountabilities around a manufacturer’s profitability, productivity, energy efficiency, and/or maintenance.

Who Are the Speakers?

Joe Ghislain: As the Senior Manager and North American Regional Manager, Joe Ghislain is a leader in Ford Motor Company’s Lean Supplier Optimization Group. He has over 35 years of experience with energy, powerhouse operations, compressed air systems, and operational efficiency improvements. In his 30-year career with Ford, he has held 11 different positions at 12 different locations, including Manager of Energy Efficiency Programs, which gave him responsibility for developing and implementing energy management systems to reduce energy cost and usage within all of Ford’s plants and divisions globally. Since compressed air systems can contribute upwards of 30% of a plant’s overall energy consumption, his expertise has resulted in an invitation to serve with the Compressed Air Challenge (CAC) since its inception, an organization whose vision is to be the global leader in developing and disseminating innovative product-neutral information and educational materials aimed at helping industries generate and use compressed air at maximum sustainable efficiency. Along with serving on the US Council for Energy Efficient Manufacturing, Mr. Ghislain has authored and co-authored many technical papers on energy and compressed air published by a number of sources, including AEE, ACEEE, ECEE, SAE, SME, Compressed Air Best Practices and Plant Services. Business track instructor.

Gerald Baron: Gerald Baron (BSME, University of Massachusetts – Amherst) has nearly 35 years’ experience in all aspects of the compressed air business, having held a variety of technical and leadership roles with Ingersoll Rand and Kaeser Compressors, Inc. In addition to sales, marketing, product management and product design roles, he also has experience consulting utility companies regarding compressed air system best practices. Before joining Kaeser in 2003, he created a position to oversee the technical and sales training program that was implemented both nationally and internationally by Ingersoll Rand. Mr. Baron currently holds the position of Branch Development Manager with Kaeser, which, along with managing multiple locations throughout the U.S., his role brings him into regular contact with a wide array of the latest compressed air technologies. Technical track instructor.
