Event Information
Description
PRESIDIO DIALOGUES – Thursday Evenings at 6 pm
In Presidio Dialogues, notable authors, artists, and conversation starters explore themes from ancient history to current events through interactive dialogues, stimulating talks, panels, performances, and films.
Since 2007, Jill Tracy and Paul Mercer have become widely known for their astonishing duets on piano and violin, mostly improvised or channeled, eerily transporting the room into a collective summoning of spirits. They will present their signature Musical Séance inside the historic Presidio Officers' Club, where music is conjured instantaneously from the audience's cherished treasures. Please bring an object of personal significance to the show— e.g., jewelry, photo, toy, token, etc. Every object holds a story.
V. Vale of RE/Search publications hailed a Jill Tracy/Paul Mercer Musical Séance as “Sheer magic! Perfection. Improvised… If you’re lucky enough to be there, you realize you’ve just had a hint of something extra-mortal, über-human, transcendent – maybe the concentrated ghosts of Shakespeare’s Globe Theater or the Commedia Dell’arte of the past are swirling around the room . . . and you think that THIS is the new avant-garde: live, uncensored, living theater.” Visit MusicalSeance.com for more info.
Jill Tracy will transport you into a seductive and magical realm far beyond the everyday. The San Francisco-based singer/pianist/storyteller has garnered multiple awards and a passionate following for her eerie, beautiful cinematic music, sophisticated lyrics, old-world glamour, and curious passion for strange tales. She is hailed as a “femme fatale for the thinking man” by the San Francisco Chronicle.
Paul Mercer is an Atlanta-based violinist and composer whose work focuses on the ‘whispering in the wood’ of ancient violins and violas, and their hidden melodies. Getting his start in the violin business, he learned a great deal of the instruments’ secret history as well as becoming adept at identifying the work of different schools of makers. This experience led to the production of his first solo album of his channeled classical music, Ghosts.
