Event description

Description

Making movies is costly and time-consuming. Preserving them is critical.

The Interoperable Master Format (IMF) has established itself as a recognized and standardized intermediate format in this process. While IMF was originally conceived as a common source format for different distribution channels, it has emerged as a promising candidate for archiving and preservation of movies.

The IMF User Group (https://www.imfug.com) invites you to this workshop, which is focused on the needs of public archives for the preservation of movies. The workshop provides a unique opportunity to meet experts, and share ideas, use cases, and requirements.

This workshop is one of a series of two. A sister event will take place in Los Angeles during SMPTE ATC 2019.

Call for presentations

Archives, content producers/owners, product manufacturers and movie professionals are invited to submit proposals for presentations on related archival and preservation use cases and workflows at:

archive@imfug.com and no later than July 1, 2019

All proposals should include a short meaningful abstract (3-4 sentences) and specify the target event (Amsterdam and/or Los Angeles). Presentations should have a maximum duration of 15 minutes.

A workshop committee will select presentations, and respond to submitters by July 15.

Admission will be free and tickets will be available starting August 1, 2019
