Event description

Description

The William Miller House in Miller Place turns 300 years ago old next year! To celebrate, Preservation Long Island has partnered with the Miller Place-Mount Sinai Historical Society to organize a very special behind-the-scenes look at one of Long Island's oldest houses.

We'll be joined by Jeremiah McGiff of Wild Boar Restoration, an expert craftsman overseeing the restoration of the structure's historic windows. Remarkably, all but one of the windows date to the early or mid-18th century!

Don't miss this wonderful opportunity to celebrate the William Miller House's 300th year while learning about the craft of restoration and why it is so important to preserve old windows.

Space is limited. Rain or Shine.

Read more about the Miller Place-Mount Sinai Historical Society's window restoration project at the William Miller House HERE.

The Miller Place-Mount Sinai Historical Society acquired the William Miller House in 1979 from the estate of Harry Millard, the last direct descendant of William Miller. The house features a largely intact interior and three main historic sections, including the original 1720 middle section, along with two different structures later attached to create the west wing in 1750 and east wing in 1816.

The William Miller House is located within the Miller Place Historic District, a town-designated historic district and the first historic district within the Town of Brookhaven to be added to the National Register of Historic Places (listed 1976).

Tickets help support Preservation Long Island's public programming. We thank you for your support!
