The Historic DeSoto Theatre Foundation, along with the Rome Historic Preservation Commission and Downtown Development Authority, will host “A Preservation Celebration: Looking Forward to Preserving the Past” a symposium analyzing the past and future of preservation and historic theatres in Georgia, on Thursday, May 9, 2019.

Expert-led sessions will highlight the factors that shaped preservation efforts in Georgia from the 19th century to today and ask what the future of archeological, architectural, and cultural preservation in the state will look like. Please note, that this is a great opportunity for Historic Preservation Commissioner training and this will qualify as an option for the annual training for Downtown/Main Street Board members. Attendance Certificates will be available to attendees if needed.

The one-day event runs from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. at The Historic DeSoto Theatre, 530 Broad St., Rome, Ga 30161. Tickets are $45 for the general public and students tickets will be available at the door for $25.

Tickets will also be available for purchase at the door.
