Cindy Kern will be speaking on the role of virtue, self-interest, and religion in building, maintaining, and restoring our republic. This one-hour presentation is a life-anchoring feast of truth and principle--one not to be missed! Cindy has been a Political Science and American Heritage teacher at Brigham Young Universtity, and is a public speaker in many venues including BYU Education Week.
Food will be generously provided by Marvellous Catering. A ribs, baked potato, and salad dinner is free to all attendees!

I will be speaking about the role of virtue, self-interest, and religion in building, maintaining, and restoring our republic.
*Discussing the first question the Founding Fathers needed to answer when forming our govt: What is the nature of man?
*Giving examples of the answers to these questions from philosophers from antiquity to the Founders
*Why did the Founders believed that the structural components of the constitution were "auxiliary precauations."
*Auxiliary to the virtue of the elected officials and the people
*Talk about how they looked to our Forefathers (Pilgrims) for answers on how to build and sustain a republic
*Talk about the five components of the Forefather's Monument in Plymouth, MA.
**Faith, Law, Virtue, Freedom, and Education
*Discuss how this applied then and in today's America
*Discuss reasons why our morality and freedom has eroded over the past few decades
*Throughout the presentation, show videos from many different apostles that address these issues

Teaching five different classes on the following topics: The Declaration of Independence as a Bulwark Against Tyranny, The Effect of Political Correctness on Freedom of Speech, The Consequences of Losing Our Cultural Memory, The Role of Virtue, Self-Interest, and Religion in a Republic, and the Declaration of Independence and Equality and the Right to Life.
