Event description

Description

When you find yourself in front of a crowd and speaking, your body language, tone of voice, and energy will connect you to your audience faster and more impactfully than your words.

How do you draw in your audience and keep their attention? How do you fight the jitters? What if you forget what you were going to say!?

In this interactive workshop, everybody moves, and we all take a turn in front of the group. Power poses, mirror neurons, and what-the-heck-do-I-do-with-my-hands; we will touch on it all.

The aim of preparing your presentation skills is not to practice unnatural showmanship, but to highlight your natural gestures, energy, and authentic relationship with the audience. We will learn about timing, body placement, eye contact, voice tone, emphasis, hand gestures, and landing the ending.

Join us in this workshop in order to feel prepared, to understand your role as a leader from the stage, to present with your natural grace and strength, and to walk off the stage with a sense of accomplishment.

Experienced Participant

“I teach visual, verbal, and graphic communications to architecture students at the University of Utah, and invited Margaret in to run a half-day training for the group of 35 students prior to a public speaking assignment. I was incredibly impressed both by the thoughtful preparation she did with me to understand the particular needs of the students and prepare a series of interactive exercises. It was amazing to see even my most shy and reserved student drawn out of their shell and taking part in the day. In such a short time with so many students, I don't know how she managed to have such a huge impact. I learned an incredible amount myself and plan to recommend to my college inviting her to develop a program for our faculty who speak at conferences and at events across the country. She's a gifted teacher!” -Erin Carraher Director of Strategy and Partnerships, EHLI
