Beyond Training and the "Skills Gap" - Research and Recommendations for Racially Equitable Communications in Workforce Development

About this Event

GARE Members and Workforce Development Practitioners,

Join Race Forward staff on Wednesday October 9th at 2pm EST for a one-hour research webinar and discussion on racially equitable communications for workforce development professionals.

Vice President of Research Dominique Apollon will discuss findings from Race Forward’s new study (Beyond Training and the “Skills Gap” – Research and Recommendations for Racially Equitable Communications in Workforce Development) on the media's framing of jobs and workforce development in the expanding fields of technology and healthcare. He will provide contrasting examples of the individualist framing that dominates, and of the more "systemically aware" coverage needed to build collective responsibility for more racially equitable outcomes. He will also share communications and organizational practice recommendations for the field of workforce development.

Webinar participant questions will be welcomed.

If you have any questions, or would like more information about the report, please contact Dominique Apollon at dapollon@raceforward.org. For information about the Government Alliance on Race and Equity, please contact Ariana Flores, Aflores@raceforward.org.
