Event description

Description

Join the MetroWest & Central MA Women's Network for a workshop specifically designed to help women become a better public speakers. Angela Lussier, TEDx speaker and founder of the Speaking School for Women, will help you learn how to become a better public speaker and help you leave with actionable steps to move your career forward.

Does this sound familiar? You buy tickets to your annual industry conference. You scour the workshop listing, circle your favorites, and set out the door for what promises to be a big day of education, entertainment, and hopefully, lifelong connections. You arrive at your first workshop of the day and the speaker falls flat. Her slides are boring, her affect is that of a day-old pancake, and there are no juicy takeaways. Presenter #2 seems scared of herself (never mind the audience) and can barely piece together a sentence. As an audience member, you recognize it’s going to be a long day of poorly created presentations. You may also realize that it could be YOU who’s up there presenting, if only you knew where to start and how to avoid the many mistakes you observe in the speakers that day.

In this interactive workshop, you’ll learn the seven key strategies professional speakers use to engage their audience, find out how to leave a lasting impression, and give a presentation that not only educates, but has the audience talking about you for days or weeks to come. If public speaking is an area you want to excel in, you don’t want to miss this class!

At the start and end of the evening there will be an opportunity for networking. Come meet other local female business leaders, entrepreneurs, and professionals who live and do business in the area.

Wine, non-alcoholic beverages, and light appetizers provided.

Angela Lussier is an award-winning speaker, three-time author, two-time TEDx presenter, and trainer. After starting a career consulting business in 2009 with no marketing budget, Angela decided to offer free workshops to become known in her field. In her first year of business, she gave close to 500 presentations, published her first book, spoke at TEDx, and started to receive calls from corporations and conferences asking her how much she charged to speak. This launched her into a speaking career which has led to her work on stage. Today, Angela is the founder of the Speaking School for Women where she trains creative, entrepreneurial women to become paid speakers who inspire audiences. She is also the founder of the Speaker Sisterhood, a new network of speaking clubs for women and the host of Claim the Stage: a public speaking podcast for women. Her motto: Stop waiting. Start creating.
