Description

What is a Prescribed Burn?

Join the Center for Sustainable Landscapes and Communities on Saturday, April 13, 2019, 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. as we learn about prescribed fire.

Hop on a van to go to an open space prescribed burn site and learn how it’s done – including all the pre-burn preparations and considerations plus what happens during the burn and what’s achieved by it. Get an up-close look at the equipment used and discuss your questions with wildfire experts, forest managers and forest ecologists responsible for prescribed burns on our city and county open space lands.

Reserve your spot today for free! Registration is required. Space is limited.

This event is brought to you by:

• CU Center for Sustainable Landscapes and Communities
• Boulder County Parks and Open Space Department
• City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks Department
• Boulder County Sheriff’s Office Fire Management Program

The Center for Sustainable Landscapes and Communities, formed in 2017, is a collaboration between CU-Boulder faculty, students from several departments and programs, and a committed group of Boulder citizens and agency staff. The Center provides foundational knowledge and a forum for productive discourse toward the planning and management of public lands in and around urban areas as integral components of sustainable and resilient communities in Colorado and throughout the West.
