Preschool Special Education Series - Unpacking the IEP
The NYC Department of Education (DOE) and the Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) is committed to partnering with preschool programs to ensure access to and support within high quality instructional programs and services that provide all three and four year olds with the foundation of skills, knowledge and approaches to learning needed to be on a path towards future success.
In order to support this work, a preschool special education workshop series will be offered to all ACS and DOE programs during this school year. These learning opportunities are intended for site-level professionals who will attend the trainings and serve as a special education liaison for the program, such as a disability coordinator or family worker. The overall goal is to deepen knowledge of preschool special education processes and to build capacity of programs to support children and families prior to, during and after the CPSE process.
The content and objectives for this session, “Unpacking the IEP”, will include:
- Participants will develop strategies, structures and resources to support students and families prior to, during and after the CPSE review
- Participants will learn about the components of an IEP and how to use the information to inform teaching and learning
