Description

Greetings!

The Philanthropic Initiative for Racial Equity (PRE) is pleased to invite you to join peer grantmakers and our faculty of racial justice experts to deepen your foundation's efforts in combatting structural racism and advancing equity through your grantmaking.

On December 4, 2018, PRE will host a Funders Lab on Racial Equity for Economic Security in the South, with support from the W. K. Kellogg Foundation. This lab will help grantmakers consider strategies and investments to address structural barriers to racial justice and economic security in the South.

During the Funders Lab, you’ll hear about ways to increase and improve alignment among racial justice and economic security efforts. You’ll also consider how you as a grantmaker can target philanthropic resources to tackle the persistent challenges and disparate outcomes that communities of color and low-income communities often face. You’ll have the opportunity to work in small groups with our faculty of racial justice experts and peer funders to test out ideas, tools, and resources for advancing your individual and organization-wide grantmaking.

It is open to local or national funders, but designed especially for grantmakers with a footprint in the American South. It is also geared toward funders who have a baseline focus on racial equity and are seeking to deepen their institution’s commitment and application of this lens to work to advance economic security.

Depending on your learning goals, you can attend alone or with a team of up to four members, including trustees.

We are pleased to announce the following faculty for our Racial Justice Funders Lab in Atlanta on December 4, 2018:

The Lab is a unique opportunity for funders working in Southern communities to go deeper around issues at the intersection of racial and economic justice, including community investments, public/private collaborations, program strategy, capacity building, infrastructure, and communications, among others.

We welcome you to share this invitation with other grantmakers in your network. Space is limited and registration is available to grantmakers from private, public, and community foundations on a first-come, first-served basis.

Registration Fees: $100 for private, public or community foundations
Early Bird Registration: $75 (registration must be received no later than Oct. 30th)
*Foundations are limited to 4 participants.

We hope that you will join us for this learning opportunity. The deadline for registration is Nov. 17th.

**Please note that by registering for this event, you are agreeing to be recorded and photographed during the session.
