Event description

Description

Note: These workshops are led by NYSED Teacher Leaders and can be taken as stand-alone professional development, but content and teaching strategies will connect across workshops, so teachers will benefit from attending multiple sessions. Teachers will leave with materials ready for the classroom. The location will be announced at a later date. Register now to reserve your seat.

Introducing Slope and Y-intercept with the CUNY HSE Math Curriculum Framework

Functions represent the highest-emphasis content area on the math section of the TASC
- 52% of the test is functions and algebra. Rate of change is a fundamental concept
when working with functions. Students need to have a solid understanding of it for the
TASC. During this workshop, we will explore Unit 3 of the CUNY HSE Math Framework,
which provides teachers with a series of activities to help students build a flexible
understanding of how to identify rate of change and starting amounts from tables, rules
and graphs and how to use these concepts in solving problems.
