Course Objectives:

  • Describe the range of potential impacts that ASC 606 –Revenue from Contracts with Customers may have on private entities, including impacts on operations, accounting, internal control environment, disclosures and reporting requirements.

  • Recognize the most significant impacts on accounting for revenue under ASC 606 when compared to legacy guidance using a hands-on example.

  • Label an effective plan to implement the adoption and accounting for revenue under ASC 606.

Program Description: The adoption of ASC 606 – Revenue from Contracts with Customers could potentially cause dramatic changes in how companies recognize revenue and will impact how revenue recognition policies
and revenue are disclosed in financial statements. Adopting ASC 606 could affect operations, accounting policies, internal controls over financial reporting, reporting requirements, IT systems as well as revenue- and accounts receivable-based metrics such as debt covenants. Companies should develop a robust project plan to facilitate the adoption and implementation of ASC 606.
