Event description

Description

On August 2-3,2017, the Standing Committee on Medical and Public Health Research During Large-Scale Emergency Events will host a public workshop in Washington, DC.

Workshop discussions will:

1. Explore key research needs and other opportunities (e.g., collection of environmental, social, health data) for improving public health response and protection during and after oil spills (including physical, mental, and social aspects of health and well-being);

2. Inform the design of a rapid response “workshop-in-a-box” and other activities (as needed) that would be available should there be an offshore oil spill of national significance.

This workshop is a collaborative effort between the Standing Committee and the Academies' Gulf Research Program (GRP). More information about GRP can be found at: http://www.nationalacademies.org/gulf/index.html

More details and public registration instructions will be posted to this page closer to the meeting date.
