WHAT: Safety & Awareness Training for Social Welfare
WHEN: Saturday, May 25th, 2019 12:00 pm – 7:00 pm

The program MEETS KS-BSRB SAFETY AWARENESS CE REQUIREMENT

Part 1 & 2 of the course, to receive 6 Credit Hours!

WHO: Social Welfare Employees in the Kansas Area
ATTENDEE COST: $80/Early Bird Rate FULL 6 hours; $90/Day of the Event

CE DETAILS: 6 CE credits for social workers; Certificate of Attendance available for all who attend. Great for all in the Social Welfare Industry.

SCHEDULE/AGENDA:
Registration: 11:45am; Main Event: 12pm-7pm with 1 hour for lunch (not provided)

Presentation Summary: Offers a balanced approach to personal and workplace safety that anyone can learn. Participants are invited to learn various skills to protect themselves in everyday situations at work and in the field. Designed specifically for social workers concerned with the threat to security within their work environment. The presentation includes an introduction to personal safety exercises and practice with simple, but surprisingly effective practical skills. The combined use of proactive personal safety measures, positive communication skills and the basics of self-defense provide the basis for this safety awareness program.

Learning Objectives: Participants will learn to: increase awareness skills for personal insight and control in personal safety situations; develop assertive interpersonal skills to assist in conflict resolution and avoidance; use their physical capabilities in safe yet powerful ways to avoid violence; developmental capabilities to assess threats to personal safety in the workplace; define and apply acquired skills in their practice.

Instructional Methods: Interactive Lecture with group exercises and physical activities (dress appropriately/casually).

Snacks and Water provided. There will be an hour Lunch before the 2nd half starts. Lunch is not provided. There are nearby options: Subway, Pickleman's & Hyvee.

*ANYONE needing to attend just the 1st half or 2nd half please call for a different registration and rate.
