Panelists:

Eric Poon, MD, MPH, Chief Health Information Officer for Duke Health

Eric serves as the Chief Health Information Officer for Duke Medicine. He also practices primary care internal medicine at the Durham Medical Center as part of Duke Primary Care. In his capacity as CHIO, he is responsible for the visioning and strategic planning of clinical and analytic information systems that impact patient care, research and education. He works with the Duke Health leadership to ensure technology solutions are well aligned with our overall organizational objectives. He oversees the optimization of the Maestro Care (Epic) electronic health record, and partner with physicians, patients and operational leaders to effectively leverage innovative IT in support of the Duke mission. He also has a keen interest in IT innovation, and works with investigators across Duke to pursue new and innovative ways to efficiently deliver high quality care to their patients.

Greg Nelson, MMCI, CEO & President at ThotWave

President and CEO of ThotWave, an analytics advisory and education firm, Greg serves as chief strategist, thinker, builder, teacher, writer, and inspire-r. As a life-long learner, his passion lies at the intersection of education, psychology, leadership, innovation, storytelling and technology. “The best part about my career is I get to help people and companies realize their analytic aspirations.”

Having served as trusted advisor to companies in healthcare, life sciences, manufacturing, education and financial services, Greg has seen organizations through a variety of challenges, and has helped them think differently about these challenges. Greg is currently authoring a book on “The Analytics Lifecycle” which will be published in January 2018 (Wiley.) This book is intended to make analytics accessible and offers best practices and practical processes for managing analytic products and teams.

He has over two decades of experience and leadership in strategy consulting and the implementation of large scale analytics projects. Greg is a prolific writer and speaker, and has served on the board of both non-profit and commercial organizations. Greg has a BA in Psychology from the University of California at Santa Cruz, did PhD work in Social Psychology and Quantitative Methods at the University of Georgia, and earned his master’s degree from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University.

Rachel Foppiano, IT Director of Data and Analytics, Information Services Division at UNC Health Care.

Rachel Foppiano is the IT Director of Data and Analytics in the Information Services Division at UNC Health Care. An Epic certified reporting program manager, and a Microsoft certified database administrator, Rachel has been working in business intelligence, data and analytics for 17 years. In 2011, Rachel joined UNC Health Care as the manager for the business intelligence team and soon after transitioned to the Epic core team and served as one of the six track managers. While in these roles Rachel led the modernization initiative of UNC’s business intelligence and analytics capabilities and led all the reporting and analytics aspects of UNC’s Epic EMR implementation. Rachel received her Master of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Akron, Ohio.

Adrianne Overbay, AVP of National Value Based Healthcare for LabCorp

Adrianne Overbay is the AVP of Value Based Healthcare for LabCorp. She has been with LabCorp for 16 years, and worked exclusively with ACOs and value based healthcare organizations for the past 4 and a half years. She has assisted in the development of LabCorp’s strategy to support these organizations in their move to value based healthcare, and is passionate about using data to better patient care and overall population health. Adrianne received her Bachelor’s degree in Consultative Selling from Western Carolina University.
