#PreciousGoods Atlanta | Monthly Care Package Assembly Mixer
Can you imagine being on your cycle and not having access to the items you need to manage it? While many of us may cringe at that thought, it is an unfortunate, recurring reality for many young girls and women who aren’t in a financial position to purchase feminine hygiene products. The Black Pearl Project’s goal is to ease this burden for as many of our sisters as possible through #PreciousGoods, our primary initiative in which we collect donations of feminine hygiene products and distribute them to women in need. The three key parts of this initiative are the product drive, assembly mixers, and care package distribution.
As this is an ongoing initiative, we accept (and appreciate) donations on a rolling basis. Specifically, we ask for packages of individually wrapped tampons, pads, and panty liners. If you are unable to attend one of our mixers but would still like to donate, please contact us to make arrangements. While it is preferred that you donate the listed items, we’re also happy to accept monetary donations via PayPal or Venmo.
Volunteers are a huge part of #PreciousGoods as we need help putting care packages together. We’re constantly growing and expanding to new cities so please check the main events page to see if there’s a mixer coming up near you! The assembly mixers are also a great opportunity for you to meet other like-minded women and make new friends. After all, sisterhood is one of the cornerstones of The Black Pearl Project!
Care Package Distribution
The care packages are distributed over the week following a mixer. They will be given directly to homeless women, as well as to those currently living in shelters and group homes that we work with. While specific distribution methods and locations may vary by city, we always want to ensure the care packages are given to the women that need them most. If you are aware of an individual or organization that is in need of our help and is located in an area that we currently service, please contact us directly.
