About this event

Preceptors play an integral role in onboarding new staff. Research shows that strong preceptors are essential in helping staff adapt to a new work environment, develop competency, and increase job satisfaction. The Preceptor Program at Vanderbilt University Medical Center focuses on developing the skills of both new and experienced preceptors through training and resources. Any staff member, regardless of role or area, can participate in our Preceptor Concepts course which provides an overview of preceptor professionalism, factors influencing learning, social differences, communication basics, feedback, and difficult conversations.

The class is hosted by Nursing Education & Professional Development, but is not limited to nurses- anyone interested in precepting is welcome.
