Pre-Schoolers Play Guitar shares our very best teaching strategies, so that you can stop throwing every idea at the wall and instead, be effective with your children -- without paying a guitar teacher, and with good music.
We'll show you how to use colored stickers along the fretboard to get any kid playing a single-note melody in 10 minutes or less.
We mean it when we say:
We've made the guitar (and uke!) accessible to everyone. Even you, you rockstar parent, you.
Because let’s be honest, “introductory guitar” sounds super boring.
But being able to sing and play like Taylor Swift and John Lennon? That's the whole point of music.... I mean, wasn't it for you?
Teaching your 4-6 year old child guitar (or uke) can actually be the way for you both to fall in love with practicing so much that it would become your “thing” - that you can't get your kid to stop practicing!
But you'll need to have a proven roadmap you can use again and again. And that is Pre-Schoolers Play Guitar.
In this 45-minute class, you and your child will:
- Learn two songs on the guitar or ukulele using our proven "sticker method"
- Write a song, discovering not only rhyme scheme and form but also how to be unconstrained in sharing what matters to you
- Perform on the microphones in our professional rehearsal studio
- Make your own guitar pick
- Take home a practice plan you can use again and again
About The Teacher: Stephanie Carlin
If you're here reading this, you (or someone you love, like your kid) are ready to make music with a real message.
I always hear parents, teachers, thought leaders, and Instagram goddesses raving about one whimsical nugget of wisdom: "Find your authentic voice."
But what does that even mean? You can't make yourself be authentic. That's like telling a teenage girl: "Just go find the man of your dreams!" No matter how badly she may want to, she needs to discover for herself what it means to get her heart broken, be vulnerable, develop strength, and love herself.
The same goes for the creative process.
If you want to write more music than you've ever written before in your life, you have to be OK with failing and making crappy art.
How do I do that? Not by getting to the source of procrastination, shyness, and self-doubt -- instead, by creating new approaches to how I deal with those areas.
And I’m about to do the same for you.
Stephanie Carlin is committed to artists experiencing breakthroughs in self-expression without getting derailed by fear or self-doubt. In 2012 she created Free Spirits Music, a songwriting school in Brooklyn that has supported over 250 children overcome shyness. She is the creator of the curriculum for the John Lennon Real Love Project, bringing songwriting workshops into children's hospitals and medical long-term care facilities. As a performer, Stephanie has been dubbed "a deep and powerful musical tsunami" with "salient and ethereal messages of peace and tranquility." Visit her at freespiritsmusic.com.
