Panoply is a network assessment/defense competition combined into a single event. Panoply is the official competition brought to you by the 2019 (ISC)² Security Congress for their attendees. When can I play?

Registering once will allow you to play at any and all sessions, no separate registration necessary for each day. Players must be registered attendees of the 2019 Security Congress conference.

Virtual Practice Environment - By registering in advance you gain access to the virtual Panoply practice environment. The practice environment opens on 10/7/2019 and will remain open for you to practice until 10/31/2019. You will receive an email from with instructions for accessing the practice environment.

Competition Schedule On Site at Security Congress Conference:

All Panoply events will be in the conference hotel

Dates: Monday, October 28th - Tuesday, October 29th

Times: 9:30am - 11:30am, 1:00pm - 2:30pm, 3:30pm - 5:00pm

Times: 9:30am - 11:30am, 1:00pm - 2:30pm

What can I win?

A Grand Prize will be awarded to the contestant with the highest score each day. The grand prize is a fully paid All Access Pass to next year's Security Congress. Prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers from each competition day.

Is it hard?

We have targets for all skill levels ranging in difficulty from metasploit 101 to turn key hardened systems. We even have tutorials in the environment, for those of you that may have never rooted a single box in your life but have always wanted to, here is your chance! Overall difficulty in winning is determined by the skill level of other particpants.

I'm registered, now what?

Once you register you will receive an email on or after Oct 6th from CyberPanoply that contains instructions on how to access our practice environment. Hone your skills in the practice environment until the onsite competition in Orlando.

Are there ID requirements?

We respect your privacy and will only be checking Security Congress conference badges onsite. Please register for Panoply using the same name you used to register for Security Congress.

What can/can't I bring to the event?

You will need your own laptop with whatever OS you are comfortable using and any open source or commercial assessment, exploitation, or scanning tools you prefer. Many players use a Kali Linux virtual machine or bootable USB drive to play. You will need a wireless card or capability to connect to a wireless network. There will be not be loaner laptops available.

How do I connect to the competition network?

Panoply runs on a dedicated wireless network inside the Security Congress conference venue. You’ll be provided with credentials on site for the network and the address of the competition portal which contains the target list for the day, point values, and rules. This will be different than the credentials you used for the practice environment.

Do I have to play all the time?

Absolutely not! Players can jump in and out of the Panoply environment at will during the competition shifts listed above. You can play for as little or as long as you’d like in each session. Each day is a separate event with separate targets. All players are welcome to play during any or all shfits.
