Event description

Description

The EMS Education Department of West Tennessee Healthcare will be hosting a NAEMT Prehospital Trauma Life Support Course on December 13-14, 2017 from 8:30am – 4:30pm each day.

PHTLS is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Pre-hospital Continuing Education (CAPCE) and is recognized by the National Registry of EMTs (NREMT). Students who successfully complete the PHTLS course will receive a certificate of completion that is valid for four years.

PHTLS is based on a prehospital trauma care philosophy, stressing the treatment of the multi-system trauma patient as a unique entity with specific needs. This may require an approach to the trauma patient that varies from traditional treatment modalities. PHTLS promotes critical thinking as the foundation for providing quality care and is based on the belief that, given a good fund of knowledge and key principles, EMS practitioners are capable of making reasoned decisions regarding patient care.

This course is offered for providers at all levels of licensure and includes a combination of classroom lecture and skill station instruction.

The course will be held at the EMS/Nursing Education Building located at 534 Roland Avenue in Jackson, TN.

Space is limited to 20 participants.
