Event description
Neuroethics in Play Therapy and Play Therapy Supervision – Franc Hudspeth, Ph.D., LPC, NCC, R.Ph., RPT-S

About this Event

Neuroethics may be a new term within play therapy; however, with the recent focus on neuroscience, it should become a common term. Often, play therapists utilize neuroscience research without regard to whether there is evidence to truly inform practice. Without a clear understanding of how to critically analyze neuroscience research, practitioners may look past or fail to realize the quality of research. As part of any decision-making, play therapists should weigh the research evidence and do a cost-benefit analysis prior to integrating new and or relatively under researched practices. This session highlights the intersection of ethics, neuroscience, evidence-informed practices, and accountability. Open for those with RPT/S/SB credential. Level of Training: Advanced

Learning Objectives

1) Define the term, “neuroethics” and explain how it applies to the practice of play therapy

2) Identify at least 2 neuroethical dilemmas that may arise during a play therapy session

3) Examine current neuroscience research and determine its application in play therapy

4) Apply ethical practices to reach sound neuroethical decisions in play therapy supervision
