About this event
This event is brought to you by the department of Lifelong Learning at Virginia Theological Seminary
This Thursday evening class will meet online for a total of 5 classes via Zoom meeting from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. eastern from March 2 - 30, 2023.
In this short online course participants will read poetry contemplatively, sometimes writing in response, and explore how the words, music, and images that we encounter in poems can help us respond more deeply to God's presence in our lives. Poets to be read include Gerard Manley Hopkins, Mary Oliver, Denise Levertov, Joy Harjo, Wendell Berry, Lucille Clifton and others.
If the cost is a barrier for you, please reach out to our team.

A poet and spiritual director, she has published 3 volumes of her poetry as well as scholarly work in spirituality and the arts, notably on the poet and artist David Jones, who saw art and poetry as "sacramental" practices.
