"The study of yoga offers many pragmatical practices beyond the postures, or asana. In fact, according to the yogic science, the postures are largely practiced to prepare the practitioner for the more subtle, yet profound, practices of pranayama, mantra, mudra, and meditation. This 6 week workshop is a mini course on the practice of pranayama, the science of controlling and concentrating life force energy, or prana, in the human body. Thirty breath techniques will be taught over the course of six weeks covering the following thematic areas:

Week 1- Anatomy of Breath

Week 2- Breath of Fire practices

Week 3- Breath in Alternating Channels, Right and Left Nostril practices

Week 4- Breathing in Strokes, Segmented breath practices

Week 5- Pausing the Breath, Breath retention practices

Week 6- Breath and Prayer practices

All participants will receive a 50 page manual to aid them in practice continuance of these 30 breath practices, after completion of the course"

Anne Minter is Adjunct Professor of Human Anatomy & Physiology at Miami University where she also teaches yoga and meditation, merging the best of the East/West medicinal teachings in the body-minds of hundreds of physician-nurse-clinicians in training.
