Pre-requisites:

  • Education: None
  • Experience: Fifty (50) documented hours of animal handling experience.
  • Age: At least 18 years of at time of enrollment

Summary:

  • Classroom time: Forty (40) hours
  • Independent work: Three (3) massage series
  • Tuition: $1,560.00 - 50% deposit required at time of enrollment

Course introduction:

This five-day intensive course provides the foundation for an entry-level certification in small animal therapeutic massage. The focus of this course is to provide the student with an understanding of anatomic and physiologic concepts applicable to many physically therapeutic modalities with a focus on massage therapy and techniques.

Curriculum:
This course curriculum incorporates multimodal, kinesthetic learning utilizing group work, hands-on practice with mannequins, stuffed dogs, and supervised interaction with live animals. A 2-hour field trip is scheduled during this course to facilitate integration of anatomy, kinesiology and behavior concepts.
Completion of the classroom portion of the curriculum and independently conducted canine massage series allow for compilation of learned material and the development of practitioner skills.
