About the Workshops

Morning Workshop | 9:00am-12:00pm | Spiritual Simplicity: Just for One Day

In busy modern life, we often feel pulled in many different directions, not having enough time to unplug and spiritually recharge. On the 15th day of each month Kadampa practitioners around the world engage in the beautiful practice of Mahayana precepts*. This is a practice where for just one day we try to simplify and live a good day. Gen Khedrub will offer the precepts early in the morning, for those who wish. Everyone is welcome to the teachings on simplicity, mindfulness and moral discipline in the morning meditation workshop.

*All are welcome to participate in taking the one-day vows of the Eight Mahayana Precepts at 6:30am (taking precepts is not required for workshop attendance).

Afternoon Workshop | 1:30-4:30pm | The Heart Practices of Faith & Wisdom

In Buddha’s teachings, the minds of faith and wisdom empower positive and peaceful ways to view the world, clearly understanding what to practice and what to abandon. Awakening faith and wisdom gives us freedom from doubt and hesitation, enabling us to move forward on the spiritual path. In this afternoon workshop Gen Khedrub will explain and guide us in the practice of Heart Jewel through which we can train in minds of faith and wisdom.

About the Teacher

Gen Kelsang Khedrub, a Western Buddhist monk, is the Resident Teacher at Kadampa Meditation Center Washington in Seattle. He has been studying and practicing Kadampa Buddhism under Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s guidance for many years. His heartfelt teachings are presented with clarity and humor that make them accessible to everyone. Through his kindness, humility and deep understanding of Buddha’s teachings, Gen Khedrub provides an inspiring example of a contemporary Buddhist practitioner we can follow.
