Event description

Description

Join us on Saturday November 4th to learn how to plant your backyard Permaculture based Orchard for a morning of in depth knowledge and an afternoon of hands on experience. We will go over the theory and design practice to understand how you can design you own, making for a more healthy, ecologically balanced orchard, while in the afternoon we will learn through retrofitting and expanding Gorman Farm's traditional orchard into permaculture practices.

This will include constructing swales for passive irrigation, planting fertilizing plants, plants for beneficial insects and support plants for diverse pollinators. We hope you can join us for the inspiring workshop as we integrate ecological knowledge, design thinking and organic gardening practices to create a more sustainable future. The first half of the course will include instruction with the second half being more physical with work in the garden - please dress appropriately and be prepared to get dirty!

About the Instructor: Braden Trauth, the Executive Director of the Cincinnati Permaculture Institute, has been teaching and practicing Permaculture Design for 10 years now here in Cincinnati and has been running Growing Value Nursery, Cincinnati's only Permaculture based nursery, located in Northside, for 7 years. He is an Adjunct Professor in Horticulture at UC's College of DAAP and in the Land, Farming and Community degree at Xavier University.
