Event description

Description

Research indicates that the prevalence of pediatric feeding and swallowing disorders is 80% in the special needs population and 20% in typically developing children. Feeding problems come in all shapes and sizes from coughing and choking with meals, poor oral motor skill acquisition, food refusal, food selectivity, oral aversion, pocketing food, expelling, failure to thrive, dependence on tube feeding and more. Most therapists find their training inadequate to fully evaluate and treat such a variety of complex feeding problems. This course is here to help! Valerie Betts specializes in the Feeding Assessment and Treatment of Infants and Toddlers.

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify critical elements necessary for inclusion in a comprehensive feeding evaluation
  • Utilize various Assessment methods to determine need and focus treatment planning for feeding
  • Increase assurance of insurance provider approval for treatment services following evaluation
  • Identify and utilize skilled terminology within evaluation and treatment planning
  • Write attainable goals for feeding treatment

This course has been approved for 6.0 Credit hours by TSHA.
