Projected target audience: 150+ authors, publishers, vendors to the publishing industry. The Seattle Book Summit prompts authors and publishers to learn more about current best practices to publish and promote their books. Keynote speakers and professional workshops will cover Publishing Options & an E-book Overview, Public Relations, Branding & Social Media.
During the Seattle Book Summit, you will learn:

Keynote Speakers Include: Comedian and Author, Wali Collins is America’s most loved Comedian. He was the first African American to have his own show on Comedy Central. Wali Collins is a regular at all of the main stream comedy clubs in New York City and Los Angeles. He headlines and tours at comedy clubs in most of Europe and Asia.
Designer and Brand Strategist, Tim Girvin is the founder of Girvin, Inc., one of the longest-running, continuously operating private brand consulting design firms on the west coast. Their focus is strategy, storytelling, messaging and visualization.
Lauri Conner is a graduate of the MFA program at University of Washington, and is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Washington in Education. She is a Cave Canem fellow and her poems have appeared in Calx, Seattle Review, Sou'wester and other journals. She has taught at Cornish College of the Arts, Antioch University and Seattle Central Community College.

Peter Atkins is the founder and managing director of Permian Partners (www.permianpartners.com), an investment fund focused primarily on Internet related companies. Peter is also the author of the Amazon bestselling Kindle book, Life Is Short And So Is This Book: Brief thoughts on making the most of your life. Prior to Permian, Peter was a General Manager at Microsoft, where over the course of six years he helped to start, manage and, later, invest in various consumer Internet businesses, including Sidewalk.com. Earlier in his career, Peter worked at Time Inc. in New York City. And one of his first jobs, while in college, was working for the "The MacNeil/Lehrer Report" in New York City.
Robbin Block of Blockbeta Marketing (blockbeta.com) has helped hundreds of small businesses make the most of digital marketing while keeping their feet firmly planted in traditional principles. She's the author of “Social Persuasion: Making Sense of Social Media for Small Business" and hosts "Minding Your Business" -- Reality Radio for Entrepreneurs.
Abigail Carter wrote The Alchemy of Loss: A Young Widow’s Transformation (HCI, 2008) as a form of catharsis after her husband’s death in the World Trade Center on September 11th, 2001. Her work has also appeared in SELF magazine, Reader’s Digest Canada, MSN.com and MORE.com and she maintains a blog at www.abigailcarter.com. Abigail is also the co-Founder of Writer.ly, an online marketplace where writers can find the people they need to publish successfully. Claire Hawkins, attorney with Garvey Schubert Barerhelps businesses and artists build, manage, and leverage their intellectual property assets. She provides a full range of counseling, prosecution, portfolio management, enforcement, and dispute resolution services for trademark, copyright, domain name, publishing, licensing, and agreement matters. Her practice has developed particular expertise in resolving trademark and domain name disputes and crafting cooperative agreements to protect, expand, and strengthen intellectual property rights. Claire has practiced intellectual property law since 2001.
Kelsye Nelson is CEO and Co-Founder of Writer.ly. Other roles have included Vice President of Growth and Outreach at Brown Paper Tickets and leading marketing efforts at Hedgebrook, TransACT and Headsprout. She is a board member of The University of Washington Digital Publishing Program and The Seattle Free Lances Association. Prior, she served as board member of the American Marketing Association, editor-in-chief of ToteMs, a MENSA newspaper, and as teacher at Kwansei Gakuin University in Japan. She’s highly proficient in building online tribes: 40k people follow @Kelsye.
Debra Prinzing is a Seattle-and Los Angeles-basedoutdoor living expert who writes and lectures on gardens and home design. Debra is the author of Slow Flowers (St. Lynn’s Press, 2013); The 50 Mile Bouquet: Local, Seasonal and Sustainable Flowers (St. Lynn’s Press, April 2012); Stylish Sheds and Elegant Hideaways (Clarkson-Potter/Random House, 2008), a Garden Writers Association Gold Award book, and The Abundant Garden (2005). Debra is a contributing garden editor for Better Homes & Gardens and her feature stories on architecture and design appear regularly in the Los Angeles Times’ Home section. She writes for Country Gardens, Sunset, Garden Design, Organic Gardening, Horticulture, Fine Gardening, Cottages & Bungalows, Metropolitan Home, Landscape Architecture, Alaska Airlines Magazine, Old House Interiors, GRAY and Romantic Homes, among others. Carol Tice is a southern California native who now lives on an island near Seattle with her husband and three children. In more than 15 years of reporting on businesses large and small, she's gone on more than 100 business trips, filing stories from Anchorage to Atlanta. Her work has appeared in the Seattle Times, Nation's Restaurant News, Wall Street Journal, Puget Sound Business Journal, Seattle Magazine, and many others.
Patricia Vaccarino is a working class kid from Yonkers, New York. After college, she traveled the country in a battered Chevy Impala to “See America” and landed in Seattle with only $300. She worked as a paralegal, and later went to law school. Her interest in law was rooted in her love for writing, so she began writing professionally--articles, copy, scripts, press releases, and was asked by Kaye Smith Productions (founded by businessman Lester Smith and Hollywood celebrity Danny Kaye), to do their Public Relations outreach. Later, she worked in PR across sectors, from government service to startup companies. After she established her own PR business, Xanthus Communications LLC, she launched a second entity PR for People® to serve people who need PR to build their professional brands. In her spare time, she writes books, trains in ballet and enjoys gardening and cooking authentic Italian food.
David Volk is a hell of a nice guy who has never been mistaken for Meatloaf. While there are those who claim that he was born and raised in Southwest Florida, he continues to maintain that he was raised by wolves outside Zagreb. Volk is the author of "The Tribe Has Spoken: Life Lessons From Reality Television," "The Cheap Bastard's Guide to Seattle," and the updated edition of the guidebook, which he modestly refers to as "Cheap Bastard II: Revenge of the Bastards," due out in November 2013. He's not sure why, but he hears rumors that the book could actually be available as early as October 2013.
