The Southwest Healthcare Preparedness Coalition is hosting Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Decontamination Considerations for High Consequence Infectious Diseases (HCID). This class is a hospital-based course for workers that will receive and treat patients exposed to a potential HCID or other highly hazardous material. Course includes introduction to HCIDs, hazardous substances, incident recognition and facility response protocol, physical properties of hazardous substances, the toxicology of hazardous substances and HCIDs, personal protective equipment, respiratory protection (including N95’s, Versaflos, and Hooded PAPRs), decontamination protocols, incident management, event termination and post incident procedures.
Target Audience: Healthcare workers with risk of occupational exposures to HCIDs, highly hazardous chemicals, biological agents, or radiological materials.
