PowerPoint Tips -n- Tricks
Thursday, June 24, 2010 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM (EDT)
PowerPoint whiz and JoMC graduate student Lesley Smith has offered to share PowerPoint tips -n- Tricks with the JoMC community! While lots of people hate PowerPoint, Lesley and Stephanie agree that PowerPoint isn't the problem; rather, it's that presenters don't know helpful tips on using PowerPoint more effectively.
This 90-minute session will focus on basic PowerPoint creation, but will also touch on PowerPoint design recommendations and suggestions on how to present more effectively with PowerPoint.
Lesley will share lots of tips on how to use keyboard shortcuts and menu bars so people will say, “wow, how’d you do that so fast?” These will include creating a new layout, selecting a design, choosing colors, and more.
Bring your laptop to class and Lesley will help you set up your workspace for maximum productivity.
About Lesley, and how she came to have so much PowerPoint expertise: Lesley is a graduate student specializing in strategic communication. Her PowerPoint expertise began as an officer in the U.S. Air Force, where she created crisis-level presentations for senior military leaders. Later, as a project manager at a strategic communication firm, she led slide development efforts for pharmaceutical companies—such as Johnson & Johnson, Amgen and sanofi-pasteur—as they prepared for high-stakes FDA Advisory Committee presentations.
