Event description
Join Powerbitches and WAGER CEO Cynthia Medina Carson for an intimate dinner and discussion in Brooklyn.

About this Event

Former HR consultant Cynthia Medina Carson created WAGER after one too many times sitting across the table from a would-be employee who had no idea what they were worth. A believer in the power of transparency, she wanted to give people the data they needed to advocate for a salary that reflected their skills and experiences - and level the playing field for women and people of color in the process.

WAGER started by matching professionals with similar skillsets, industries, and levels of experience for honest conversations about salary, and now offers individual salary coaching and corporate workshops as well. Eventually, its mission is to put the onus on companies to create and foster a salary transparent culture that gives employees better guidance on how to achieve their salary goals.

Join Cynthia and Powerbitches founder Rachel Hills, for an intimate and interactive conversation about building a business, the role of transparency in closing the gender pay gap, and what tools we need to advocate for ourselves as freelancers and business owners.

Ticket includes a three-course vegetarian dinner, drinks, and the opportunity to network with a curated group of purpose-driven women creators and innovators. In order to maintain the intimacy of the Salon, only 10 tickets will be put on sale - so get in early to secure yours.

NB: This event will be held at a private home in Fort Greene. Exact address and contact details will be sent to attendees 24 hours before the event. Please let us know of any dietary restrictions and we will do our best to fulfill them.

About Cynthia Medina Carson

Cynthia is an Executive Recruiter, Talent Consultant, and Leadership Coach with over fifteen years of management experience. Cynthia started Wager because she saw firsthand how the lack of salary information created unnecessary information barriers and anxiety in the workplace for both women and men. Professionals and executives kept asking the same question, “Who can I ask about salaries?”

Prior to her move into the talent field, Cynthia worked as an international relations and policy expert for the Department of Treasury, Homeland Security and JP Morgan, and served in Peace Corps, Nicaragua. Cynthia is also the Founder of the Cheeky Monkey Club, a networking group for women who hate to network, is a Board member of her hometown’s Girls Inc., and hosts a makerspace in her basement studio. She is a graduate of Georgetown University and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
