Event description

Description

Coming off a successful Power-Up in Denver in May, we're bringing it to Houston.

What is Power-Up?

Power-Up is a free event designed for petroleum engineers and data scientists who want to bridge the gap between software code and physical science. This half-day event will take a deep dive into the real-life stories of people fighting through a barrage of bureaucracy and buzzwords to a place where new and exciting work actually gets done. You’ll hear case studies and best practices as you contemplate the future and learn from your peers.

Agenda

Check out the agenda below for a taste of what you can expect and reserve your spot now.

ML Hopes and Dreams - Unique perspectives on data science and machine learning buzzwords: A panel discussion that digs in to understand why certain terms get used, what they actually mean, and how we can move to a place of productive interaction between vendor and operator/engineer and data scientist.

  • Moderator: Josh Churlik, Well Data Labs
  • Panelists: Austin Weir, Noble Energy; Deanna Zhang, TPH; Garrett Leahy, Tachyus

Project Use Cases - Descriptions of Machine Learning being deployed to solve unique petroleum Engineering Problems:

  • Building Real-Time Drilling Analytics with Machine Learning; Kate Ruddy PE, Occidental
  • Using ML to Recognize Events in Time Series Frac Data; Alberto Ramirez, Well Data Labs
  • Using Generative Adversarial Networks to Create Synthetic Oilfield Datasets; Alfonso Reyes, Oil Gains Analytics
  • Impact of Well Orientation on Production: A Multi-basin study; Kyle LaMotta, Petro AI

Data Science as a Career: Transitioning from being a ConocoPhillips Geologist to a Data Scientist at a tech company; Matt Francsis, Tessela

Who should attend?
