Join InterHab October 12–14, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Wichita for a conference event that draws more than 500 human service professionals from every corner of the state of Kansas as well as other states in the region. Power Up! is the largest conference of its kind in the Midwest.

InterHab - The Voice for Kansans with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
InterHab is the oldest and largest association of developmental disability service providers. We are the premier entity in the Midwest for advocacy on behalf of intellectual and developmental disability issues. 

Power Up! The 2016 InterHab Annual Conference
Power Up! is designed to inspire, educate and empower professionals who support persons with disabilities. Power Up! features engaging keynote speakers and various "learning labs" designed to provide the tools and information needed to best serve individuals with disabilities.

HCBS Settings Final Rule…You mean we might have to change?!?

How is your State’s implementation of the HCBS Settings Rule going?  Do you want to be involved but are not sure how? Or do you wish it would just go away?

This session will walk through one state’s process and experience in getting CMS final approval on their Statewide Transition Plan and what it means for people with disabilities and for providers in Tennessee.  Michelle Morse Jernigan, from Tennessee’s State Medicaid Agency (TennCare) will share how TennCare developed their transition plan processes, how they involved (and relied upon) stakeholders, how implementation is going, and the promise these changes hold to impact the lives of people served in Tennessee’s LTSS programs. She will discuss experiences with persons served and their families, providers, and success story surprises. This session will include a presentation from Michelle on the components of Tennessee’s approved transition plan, assessment processes, and heightened scrutiny reviews as well as how the state engaged consumers, families, providers and advocates, and at least an hour for an interactive discussion.

Power Up! Opening Keynote Speaker: 

Doug Sterbenz -  Doug is a speaker who has been the leader and who has actually done it.  Now Doug takes his leadership experiences and helps aspiring leaders reach their full potential and organizations reach their goals.

Doug has serious "street cred" from the shop floor to the executive suite and at every level and dimension of leadership.  He has lived the stories he tells and learned the lessons he shares.   Doug inspires audiences of all sizes and focuses on Supervisors, Managers, and Executives on leadership, motivation, and safety.

Doug recently retired as the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Westar Energy.  He led the operating activities for the largest electric provider in Kansas.

Wednesday Night Entertainment

We have three off-site entertainment options for Wednesday evening all beginning at 7 PM.  

Heroes Sports Bar Trivia - join your friends and co-workers for a free trivia contest.  Dinner & drinks will be on your own.  They are located at 117 N. Mosley Street.  Their menu can be found at http://places.singleplatform.com/heroes-sports-bar/menu?ref=google.

Pinot's Palette - Meet up with your friends and co-workers for a fun evening of painting. There is a $35 charge per person charge for this event. Pinot's Palette is located at 338 N. Artist instruction, canvases, easels, paints, brushes, and an apron to protect your clothing are all provided.

Feel free to bring snacks and your beverages of choice.  (Beyond Napa, a wine store with a nice selection of wine, spirits, and cold beer, is right across the hall.) Wine glasses, ice, plates, napkins, utensils, and water will be provided. (No rolling coolers, please.)

Please arrive between 6:30-6:45pm so you can get settled in and be ready to paint at 7pm.

Extreme Go Carts -  Indoor go-kart racing experience, featuring an asphalt track with state-of-the-art electric 'race-karts'.  Thrill seekers will have the opportunity to hit speeds approaching 45 mph just inches off the ground. Thursday's Executive Breakfast: This event is open to InterHab Board members and Alternate members.  Annie McKay, President & CEO of Kansas Action for Children will be the speaker.

Thursday Night Dinner

When you check-in at the conference registration desk, you will receive a conference bag and in it, you will find a coupon for $15 for dinner starting at 6 PM at any of the local food trucks which will be parked a block from the hotel (just walk out the front doors of the hotel)  

Thursday Night Entertainment

Entertainment Night will take place Thursday, October 13 at 8 p.m. in the Eagle Ballroom of the hotel. This year we will have a DJ & musical BINGO.  Come join in the fun with games, drinks, music, and prizes.

Free T-shirts

Those who register for the Full Conference by Sept. 19 will receive a free t-shirt! You will be asked to enter your t-shirt size during the registration process.

REGISTRATION NOTE  

The Awards Luncheon is included in a Full Conference registration and in a Friday only registration so you won't need to register for the Awards Luncheon.

When registering a group of people for the conference, be sure and use each individual's own email address because we will be sending out a survey we need each person to complete regarding which session they plan to attend.    

PLEASE PRINT OUT YOUR TICKET AND BRING IT TO THE CONFERENCE, IF AT ALL POSSIBLE.  

Conference Cancellation Fees:  

Refunds will be made if cancellation is received prior to 5 p.m. on October 5, 2016. An administrative fee of $25 will be retained for cancellations received prior to 5 p.m. on October 5, 2016. No refunds will be made for those that cancel after 5 PM on October 5 or for those who fail to attend.  Please note that substitutions for attendees are permitted.  To make a substitution please contact Janet Middendorf at 785.235.5103.

Sharing registrations is NOT permitted.  Each participant found sharing a registration will be invoiced for a full conference registration.
