Event description

Description

The energy sector is in flux – the conventional business models and market dynamics which have remained largely unchanged for the past decades are being increasingly challenged. The more decentralized and intelligent the distribution systems become, the more blurred the line between consumers and producers becomes. These developments are amplified and reinforced by the rise of renewable energies. The overarching trends driving such change simultaneously bring new opportunities and challenges for all actors involved.

At this joint event of WWF Switzerland and GreenBuzz Zurich, we will highlight current trends in both the European and Swiss electricity landscape, the changing roles of different market stakeholders as well as existing solutions contributing to a decentralized, local and greener electricity market in Switzerland.

WHO IS IT FOR

  • Professionals interested in the topic of energy transition and how such a model could work
  • Owners and team members of renewable energy operators, providers, installers etc.
  • Anybody who wants to actively join the renewable energy movement
  • Investors and insitutions interested in clean projects
  • Team of WWF Switzerland

We make people meet. Therefore we also arrange further meetings and sessions for GreenBuzz members, partners and clients interested in learning more or initiating collaborations. Please get in touch to explore more.

ABOUT THE ORGANISATIONS

Institute for Economy and the Environment, Chair for Management of Renewable Energies: The Chair - under the direction of Prof. Dr. Rolf Wüstenhagen - focuses on customer and investor decision-making, business models and their interaction with effective renewable energy policies. It is the first of its kind at a leading European business school.

EMPOWER Project: The creation of local electrical markets to promote the prosumer role in Smart Grids is no longer just an idea, but also the main objective of EMPOWER, which started on January 2015. The project addresses the topic “Modernising the European electricity grid: LCE 7 – 2014: Distribution grid and retail market” of the call “Competitive Low-Carbon Energy” of the HORIZON 2020 work programme 2014-2015.

Swissgrid is the national grid company. As the owner of Switzerland’s extra-high-voltage grid, it is responsible for the safe operation of the grid without discrimination, and for maintaining, modernising and expanding the grid efficiently and with respect for the environment.

BEN Energy develops and operates the Energy Analytics Platform – analysing, predicting, and affecting customer behaviour to create next generation energy services.

Airbnb, Uber,...).
