Event description

Description

Join Leadership for Educational Equity and Teach for America for a conversation about Connecticut's political landscape, the state's history of inequity, and how you can take an active role in your local community to create positive change for students.

  • What are some historical factors that have led to inequity in Connecticut?
  • Who has power to make or influence decisions that impact equity across the state?
  • How is local and state government structured?
  • What kind of elections are held in Connecticut? Why are party politics so strong here?
  • What role(s) can YOU play to create positive change for students in Connecticut?

We'll look at one of Connecticut's affordable housing policies as a case study through which to discuss the themes of power, politics, and how change is made.

This is a knowledge-building event so please bring any questions you have and be prepared to engage in a lively discussion with your peers.

Dinner will be provided. Please RSVP on this page.

We are also hosting this event in Bridgeport on October 3 and in Hartford on October 18.
