Description

In 2018, the combined effects of discrimination on the advancement of Latinas has attracted attention to such substantive issues as racism, violence against women, and pay inequality. The time has come to explore and assess the specific needs in our communities to determine how we can create solutions and an action plan that can be mobilized to neighbors and communities to accomplish real CHANGE.

Today, our community requires more than goodwill, it requires a commitment to understanding the unique struggles of the intersectional feminist movement of Latinas as well the peculiar crossroads that our community finds itself in — ultimately, there is need to bring to the forefront real CHANGE. Through these vital conversations, we want to challenge the issues that allow racism, sexual violence, and pay inequity to flourish.

Together we will gain greater awareness!

Event Agenda

Viewing of Documentary of “Dolores”

Dolores Huerta is among the most important, yet least known, activists in American history.

Summary – The documentary highlights Dolores Huerta who is among the most important, yet least known, activists in American history. An equal partner in co-founding the first farm workers unions with Cesar Chavez, her enormous contributions have gone largely unrecognized. Dolores tirelessly led the fight for racial and labor justice alongside Chavez, becoming one of the most defiant feminists of the twentieth century—and she continues the fight to this day, at 87. With intimate and unprecedented access to this intensely private mother to eleven, the film reveals the raw, personal stakes involved in committing one’s life to social change. (55 minutes)
