Power of the Purse Luncheon
The Women’s Fund of Herkimer & Oneida Counties, Inc. is delighted to announce that the Power of the Purse Luncheon will take place on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at Hart’s Hill Inn,135 Clinton Street, Whitesboro, from noon to 1:30 pm. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. This year The Power of the Purse Luncheon will celebrate the 20th year of The Women’s Fund and our mission to empower women and girls to realize their dreams.
This year’s recipient for the Dream Maker Award is Rev. Paul J. Drobin. This award is given annually to an individual who has had a positive impact on the community. Throughout Rev. Drobin’s 50-year career, he has taught high school classes, offered counseling, been a pastor, and also the chaplain at Hamilton College, SUNY Polytechnic Institute and Utica College. Calling himself the “chief cheerleader” of Utica, Drobin’s favorite part of the area is the people and how hard they work, as well as how much they care about each other. All of those vocations have allowed Rev. Drobin to be a part of many people’s lives while staying involved in the community he loves.
Eva Mroczek, Ph.D., will be the guest speaker at the luncheon. She is a Young Scholars alumna, earned her bachelor’s degree at Utica College, and then went on to earn her Ph.D. in microbiology. Dr. Mroczek returned to Utica and is now an adjunct faculty member at Utica College in the biology department. She taught the 2016 Young Scholars “Women in Math & Science” project (funded by The Women’s Fund).
Tickets for the luncheon are $45 per person. The luncheon will also feature exciting raffles, awards and grant announcements. Reservations must be received by Tuesday, May 2, 2017.
The Power of the Purse Luncheon is the major fundraiser for the organization and the proceeds of the event will help provide the necessary funds for The Women’s Fund to continue the valuable role it plays in changing women’s lives and the lives of their children.
