Event description

Description

Families and individuals are invited to join us at a Scrollathon workshop! Artists Steven and William Ladd will guide you to help make pieces of a large-scale collaborative work of art that will be on display in our community for a year.

No artistic experience is necessary! Appropriate for ages 10 and up, but younger children may participate with parent or guardian’s help.

What to Expect: Each session will be 45 minutes long (Participants/Guardians must be present for entire session). Participants will create a scroll to keep, learn about Steven and William Ladds’ artistic method and philosophy, create another scroll that will become part of the large-scale collaborative artwork and be documented in photographs and video about the project. More than 1,000 people from Parkland and Coral Springs will create scrolls for the large-scale “Scroll Landscape” which will represent individuals and their collective experiences coming together to strengthen the community.

Location: Community Education Center at Broward Health - 3100 Coral Hills Drive

About Project: The Cities of Coral Springs and Parkland, along with the Coral Springs Museum of Art, are bringing Steven and William Ladd’s Scrollathon to our community as part of the Cities’ Bloomberg Public Art Challenge program “The Power of Art: Inspiring Community Healing after Gun Violence.” Scrollathon is one of five hands-on art projects, with the goal of providing opportunities and outlets for healing and social cohesion.
