Event description

Description

This season, Milwaukee Rep’s Community Conversation series is collaborating with partner organizations to host interactive, dialogue-based events connected to the shows on our stages and the themes of power and money: How is money shaped by power, and vice versa? How do resources and influence shape individuals, communities, and society at large?

To address these questions, Woodland Pattern Book Center and Milwaukee Rep will co-host “Power & Money & Wisconsin Women Writers,” a salon-style event celebrating and amplifying the voices of local women-identifying authors. In conjunction with The Rep’s production of Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley by Lauren Gunderson (America’s most produced contemporary woman playwright) & Margot Melcon, five Wisconsin women writers will come together to discuss the influence of power and money on their work and lives. These writers include Susan Firer, Destinny Fletcher, Siwar Masannat, Denise Sweet, and Lucy Tan.

Every attendee will receive a bibliography listing Milwaukee leaders’ recommendations for favorite Wisconsin-based authors, and emerging local artists will also find resources and further opportunities to build professional connections in the community.

We hope you’ll join us at Woodland Pattern on December 6th to grab a drink, make a friend, and discover a new favorite local writer.

Give-what-you-can donations will be accepted at the door.
