Event description

Description

Inspired by the bold style of improvisation developed at The Annoyance Theater in Chicago, this workshop explores the power of making strong choices at the top of your scene. The focus will be on experimenting with what it means to support your partner by taking care of yourself first.

In this workshop you will:

  • Play with making strong choices right out of the gate; bold characters, clear points of view, specific emotional and physical choices
  • Hold on to your bold initiation and let it become your roadmap for your scene
  • Increase your awareness of the choices you make and expand your repertoire
  • Build more skills to discover your own voice and shape your personal style as an improviser

“..the times I’ve felt most supported in an Improv scene is when my partner took care of herself first. When my fellow player selfishly makes a choice, any choice, at the top of the scene, I feel very supported. I feel supported because now I’m on stage with a powerful , playful person who isn’t afraid to take a chance. I’m on stage with a fearless individual, and not someone in her head, rendered speechless by fear, and waiting for me to do something.”

Mick Napier, Founder of The Annoyance Theater, Author of Improvise, Scene from the Inside Out

This workshop is for experienced improvisers

Class is limited to 18 people
