Pottery Taster: Introduction to the Wheel

Located in Strathblane, with a view of the Campsies, Milndavie Pottery Studio is the perfect location to enjoy a 1:1 pottery lesson.

In our introductory wheel lesson, you will have 2 hours dedicated time to learn all of the basics of throwing on a wheel. This involves;

• preparing your clay
• centering on the wheel
• "pulling" the walls of your pot
• how to create basic forms

We will aim to have you make 1-2 pots during your lesson, but we encourage you to push your clay to the limits and not be afraid to start again! This lesson is all about having fun and getting to grips with what it means to throw on a wheel.

(This lesson is also available to a pair/couple for a discounted price per person, and the lesson will cover 3 hours)

Note: this lesson does not involve turning/trimming or glazing. Your teacher will tidy up your pots once they're dry and dip in a white glaze. Pieces will be ready to collect in 3-4 weeks. Glazing/painting sessions are available upon request at an additional cost.
