This walking tour led by Dave Alpert, FAIA (SAAIA) and Jonathon Rusch (Page & Turnbull) will explore San Francisco’s Financial District and how its formation unknowningly takes inspiration from the iconic figure-ground Nolli Plan of Renaissance Rome. As we walk through pedestrian spaces that are public and semi-public, you will be exposed to how key SF FiDi's buildings are joined almost seamlessly by unbeknownst walkways and passages. Explore this rich part of the city in a new way and discover a 'shortcut' through buildings you walk by and around everyday!
Walking tour will start and end at One Montgomery at the intersection of Post and Montgomery Streets (corner of the Wells Fargo bank). We suggest bringing a bottle of water, bring a light jacket and hat (SF microclimates!), and wear comfortable walking shoes. This tour will be about 2.5 miles.
