Description

This event has been postponed. Updates will be provided when available. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Hudson Institute will host a discussion with Ambassador Kurt Volker, U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations, on the future of Ukraine’s reform program, prospects for the occupied regions, and how the U.S. can support this critical ally. The discussion will be moderated by Hudson’s Ben Judah.

After its authoritarian president was ousted in 2014, Ukrainian officials laid out an ambitious program of reforms to improve governance and align the country with Europe. Significant progress has been made in some areas, but in others pessimism remains. The recent election of Volodymir Zelensky as president was widely regarded as a popular backlash against widespread corruption and economic hardship. Meanwhile, Crimea and much of Eastern Ukraine remain illegally occupied by Russian forces in a conflict that has claimed the lives of 13,000 Ukrainians and displaced 2 million people.

NOTE: This event is open to the press. All members of the media should RSVP to press@hudson.org.
