OVERVIEW

The Excellence in Hypertension Treatment Learning Series is a knowledge-based continuing education activity for physicians, physician assistants, pharmacists, and nurse practitioners. This three hour interprofessional seminar will educate the targeted audience on effective treatment, hallmark studies in improving blood pressure, use of technology to support patient-centric clinic practice and achieving lasting improvements that lead the way to greater health, productivity, and cost savings.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  • Review guidelines and goals for the treatment of hypertension.
  • Describe major cardiovascular disease risk factors and their assessment.
  • Identify appropriate monitors and techniques for blood pressure measurement.
  • Describe new medications approved for hypertension management.
  • Discuss appropriate medication selection for the individual patient.
  • Discuss use of health information technology to support population health management in patients with hypertension.
