Description

This 3-part educational and training workshop series for postdocs will be an introduction to sponsored research and grantsmanship. Topics will include NYU’s sponsored research infrastructure, the different types of funding support, how to identify sources of funding, how to read and analyze Funding Opportunity Announcements(FOA)/Requests for Proposals (RFP), and how to plan and organize a research proposal.

Session 1, October 12 at 2PM: NYU Grants 101: The 5 W’s

What is “sponsored research”? Who are the parties involved? Why is it important? When do I need to apply? How do I get started? Come learn about the sponsored research infrastructure at NYU, the basics of grant applications, and get all your pressing questions answered.

Session 2, October 26 at 2 PM: Finding the Money

This session will review sponsor funding initiatives for postdocs/new investigators , and provide an overview of resources available to identify sources of funding.

Session 3, November 9 at 2PM: Getting the Money

This session will focus on planning and organizing a fellowship/career development proposal or a research proposal and discuss best practices for seeking grant support and proposal writing.
